Emporio Armani

Giorgio Armani originally planned to have a career in medicine; but after joining the Italian army during the 1950s, he fell in love with fashion.  Posted to a military hospital in Verona, he often visited the Verona Arena to watch shows, where he became totally enamored by costume.  After taking a job as a window dresser at a department store in Milan, he went on to design menswear for Nino Cerutti in the 1960s before establishing his own brand in 1975.  In October of the same year, the first Giorgio Armani collection was presented.  In 1979, Armani began to produce clothing for the USA and introduced a mainline for both men and women, quickly becoming one of the leading names in international fashion.  By the year 2000, Armani was producing fragrance, children’s clothes, denim, men’s and women’s clothing, sportswear and a line of ready-to-wear clothing.
